Capturing the mundane to create interesting stories

Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge 2018

Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge 2018; more than 400 participants in, 221 participants left as of 10pm (27 Oct). Seems to be much less now.

It’s 18 hours 37 minutes in when the photos were taken. I estimate merely over a hundred of participants left.

The rules are quite simple; place your right palm on the designated decal, and stay there indefinitely.

“384, 385, 386, 387, 389, 390, OUT!”

You can stand, you can kneel, you can even lay down — as long as your palm is flat on the decal.

“Oh Subaru God, give me strength!”

Not just participants, the strain also takes a toll on the marshal…

“I survived”

All this to win a car.

Will I ever do it myself? I don’t think so. I don’t have the determination, nor the stamina. I don’t think I can stay up for more than 24 hours, let alone the current record — 82 hours and 16 minutes.

It’s best for me to stand at the side and watch…

…at a safe distance, while waiting for this stall to open
