One head of the refugee families, smoking cigarette, unsure of the future
These people are refugees from Rohingya — the boat people — who are temporarily refuge in Aceh, Indonesia.
Some of them came as family, but many of them are mother and children. They ran away from their villages, hoping to meet their husbands/fathers who have successfully — though most likely illegally — emigrate to, mainly, Malaysia. It is out of their luck they ended up in Indonesia instead.
The children may not as cheerful as they could be… but at least no longer oppressed, nor depressed.
At least they still have something to play with. That’s the most important part of childhood, I believe… playing.
Playing children are content children — taking away their thoughts from this cruel world.
