Piling Up

This is how the garbage men pick-up the garbage at Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta

The residents put the garbage in the middle of the road. The three ‘ground’ crews pick them up and throw them in the air.

The ‘receiver’ crew catch it, and pile them up neatly — higher, and higher…

While working on it, the crews also sort the garbage. Some resaleable items, such as cans and plastic bottles, are collected in the sacks as seen in the photo above.

It’s a hard and dirty work… but somebody got to do it.

Thanks, and keep up the good work, guys!

  2. I love your photos by the way. So many look so familiar, like the ones above.

    • Thank you, Koya. I’m glad that you like it. I guess Indonesia and the Philippines have a lot of things in common.
