Corbin’s Eyes

S-Corbins-eyes-DSC 0581-martosc

Yellow, green and black

Side Story :

To be honest, I don’t really like cat’s eyes — it gives some sort of evil feeling.

I like it better when it is fully-dilated (e.g. in the dark); kind of puppy-eye-y — probably because I’m a dog person.

  1. I think that’s because cat’s eyes look like snake’s when it’s not dilated. Yaiks! Scarrryyy…

    Awwww.. I want hamster!!!

*nice pic of Sir Corbin, by the way.. Love the color tone..

    • Right!! … I hate snake! :D…
Are you sure you want hamster?

  3. Not a cat person either, but this looks amazing! Stunning shot!

    • Thanks, Georgie. The hardest part was to keep the cat stay still :D… and thanks for the update on your post.

oh my gosh what a gorgeous kitty
i’m also a dog person.. but still think cats are very cute

    August 26, 2011 at 13:26

    • That would be the case for me, too. I like cats, but I prefer dogs :-).

  6. Ooooo a kitty post! I’m a cat person, as you know, GM :). He’s a cutie. Look at that sweet face.

When a cat’s eyes are small like in the photo is when he/she is the least dangerous – i.e. when relaxing, or sleeping, or staring at you with adoring eyes. When the eyes are fully-dilated, usually is at night, when he/she is naughty!!!

At least, that’s been my experience :).

    • Hahaha… interesting piece of information, Jenn. Thanks.

I couldn’t confirm if Corbin is naughty during the night because I only spend several nights with him. Maybe I’ll observe more the next time I ‘catsitting’ him.

  7. Hiiiii rambut (bukan bulu) yang tampak halus dan minta dielus…

    August 27, 2011 at 09:15

    • Sayangnya Corbin gak selalu senang dielus. Kucing aneh :D…

Hehehe.

      August 27, 2011 at 16:51

      • Hmmm iya sih, saya cek, ternyata benar juga. :D

Tapi saya tetap gak bisa menerima itu. Saya lebih suka mengacu pada istilah bidang biologi. :D

        August 27, 2011 at 18:33

Jangan sampai salah kaprahnya jadi salah kaprah hehehe. :-)

  8. I’m a dog person too.. but my father-in-law has so many cats around his house that I got used to them. :)
And I definitely like those eyes. :)

    August 28, 2011 at 18:00

    • Is Pepper going along very well with those cats? (assuming you take her when you are visiting).

      August 28, 2011 at 18:20

  9. First, if I don’t take Pepper to see my father-in-law, he “kills” me. :) (he’s even more fond of my dog than I am! :)))
Second, Pepper usually tries to “kill” the cats :P I’m waiting patiently that she learns how to behave near cats.. but her instinct is stronger so far… maybe when she is older…

    August 30, 2011 at 01:18

    • Hahahaha…
Wait a minute, how old is Pepper now? Pepper is probably just wants to play with the cats. I’m sure she meant no harm to them. Pepper is a sweet dog, no?

      August 30, 2011 at 05:41

      • She’s 4 and a half years old now. :)
She always tries to catch the cats.. I never saw her doing harm to any cat but then again, she never caught one :) They are fast runners :P

She is sweet yes, but she is also very territorial. Schnauzers have strong territorial instincts, are always on alert and barking to strangers, and are super protective to their owners. Problem is that they don’t measure sizes. If you put a Pit bull or a Doberman in front of her, she will just jump anyway in front of them to defend her space and their owners. Which is not so good because she doesn’t stand a chance against those animals.
This is something I need to work better with her so that she learns how to behave better in the presence of other animals.

Problem is that she has a history in her past.
She was abandoned when little by the previous owner due to a divorce dispute and she stayed on a dog house 6 months before we adopted her, the result is that she now suffers from an abandon psychological condition. Which can be treated with lots of love and trust and some behavior training.

Love and Trust is the easy part. The behavior training is the most difficult one… that’s why it’s good that my father-in-law has lots of stray cats around his house and courtyard. I hope she starts getting used to them and maybe in a year or so she will not try to catch them anymore.

The rest, I still need to find a good trainer to learn more about dog behavior and to see how I can make her more calm when in the presence of other animals. She needs to learn that other dogs have their space too. She needs to learn she is not the alpha. And she needs to learn to relax…

She’s the kind of animal that acts first and thinks later. :-) But you can “buy” her easily.. if you come to my house she will bark you around 10 min non-stop (she doesn’t bite, so don’t worry, although she has a strong bark). Then you play a little with her and that’s it. You made a friend for life. :) So she is basically showing-off. :)))

        • Thanks for the comment, Helder. I think I can understand Pepper. She reminds me of Esco (my sister’s poodle; we lost him years ago); He loved to chase everything around, including other dogs, cats, neighborhood kids — but he meant no harm.

I’m sorry to hear Pepper’s past, but at least now she finds a loving house :-).

I think I can get along very well with Pepper. I’m really looking forward to see her. But how? When? :D…

          August 30, 2011 at 19:00

          • Chose a summer to spend a few vacation days in Porto, Portugal and I’ll show you Pepper. :P

            August 30, 2011 at 20:07

            • That would be great. Not sure which summer, though :D…
Europe seems so far away. We will need to save a lot of money to go there :D… Anyway, thanks for the invitation.

    September 2, 2011 at 11:54

    • Sorry, he’s not a British Short Hair. Corbin is a Russian Blue. They look very similar to British Short hair, though.
