Capturing the mundane to create interesting stories

Foot Note

Foot note: the act of noting a good foot to photograph :D… ; well, shoes to be exact

Last Friday, I was helping a friend to cover some sort of conference held by several Indonesian Student Association in Japan.

I’ve never been in a conference before, let alone covering it. So, I’m not sure what to expect nor what to shoot.

15 minutes in… and I’m already bored to death.

Being (not so) creative, I look for something to entertain myself. I started shooting random things.

At the end of the day, these photos are two of my favorites for non-conference-related photos :D.

Note:

The second shot was taken as tribute for a friend in Portugal.

He said that red and black are his favorite colors.

Hope you find it appealing, Helder :-).

Two very compelling images Martos. Very well done. Red and Black absolutely match, no doubt about it.

  2. Number one’s actually pretty cool. Quite a different perspective on the usual conference shots you find.

    • Well, of course :D… I don’t think an official (and pro) photographer would take pictures of shoes in a conference :D… Cheers!

  3. :)))) Absolutely GM! :)
Second photo is the best! ;-)))

I’ve been in too many conferences in the past 10 years… the enough to know that someone invite us to cover the event, we should run like hell. :)))))
And yes, I agree: most of them are boring, boring, boring.

But I have a question: why shoes? :)

    • Glad that you like it, Helder :-).

To answer your question; well, no particular reason. I took a lot of other non-conference related photos: hands, pens, chairs, candid, stage, etc… but I found these two most appealing and also can go as a set.

  4. The first shot looks great! I like how the black space highlights the subject and the speaker in the background. Good work!

  7. The first one is my favourite. Almost there is a relation between the speaker and the shoes :)

    June 19, 2011 at 16:15

    • Haha! What kind of relationship is that?
Thanks for the visit and comment, Cornel :-)
