On the blue-yellow curly stairway

Side Story :

Can you guess my two favorite colors are?

Yes, blue and yellow — especially the combination of them both.

  1. You should like Sweden then ;) Btw, I noticed you’re from Indonesia, my wife is also from there. We’ll be going to Balikpapan this autumn, hopefully taking some good photos as well.

    • I know I love the color of Swedish National Football team’s jersey. So, what other blue-yellow thing in Sweden? I haven’t got the change to go there myself. I wish I can go there in the future, at least to visit a good friend of mine at Uppsala.

Ouw, your wife is from Balikpapan? I work there for a year plus. I like that (rather) small city. Hope you’ll enjoy the city and manage to take some good photos :-)…

      • Well, there’s the flag (obviously) and some rather silly looking traditional costumes. Personally I like the different traditional Indonesian clothes a lot better :p

        • Haha… well, the grass is greener on the other side :D…

Traditional Indonesian clothes are mostly colorful, especially in Sumatera and Sulawesi (Celebes). But, as far as I know, there are no blue-yellow combination. There are a couple of red-gold combination, very eye catchy :-).

Is this going to be your first visit to Indonesia?

          • It will be my second. First one was for our wedding two years ago, were I got to wear some of those fancy clothes. I probably looked quite out of place :p

            • Hahaha… Maybe out of place, but the photos would be incredible :-)…

Well, enjoy your stay. Don’t forget to eat a lot of seafood there… especially the Crab with sauce. I’m sure your wife knows about them. My recommendation would be “Kepiting Kenari” near the airport :D…

Please send my best regards to your wife and your daughter :-)

  2. Nice shot! The composition especially since the steps guide the eye into the lady. :)

    • Thanks, Helder.
This is quite lucky shot, actually. I was taking picture of the (empty) stairway when the lady came into the frame — so I took another shot.

  3. I like the tones and somewhat desaturated feel of this image. Good composition too.

    • Thanks, Chris.
This has been my ‘style’ or favorite tone recently; desaturated colors with brown layer overlaid :-)… tone and colors are always personal preference, hence I’m glad that you like it, too.

    • Makasih, Om. Akhir-akhir ini sedang senang bikin tone seperti ini. Besok-besok ya belum tentu :D…

      May 19, 2011 at 19:04

        May 19, 2011 at 19:37

        • Yah, kita lihat gimana nanti deh. Sebenarnya saya sudah melewati fase menor; sebelum gaya yang sekarang, aku senang foto-foto yang mencrang :D…
